10 x Cauliflower Rice Recipes

I’ve been cooking with cauliflower rice for years now, and it still manages to surprise me. Sometimes I use it simply as a lighter alternative to rice, other times I turn it into something completely unexpected, like gnocchi or even dessert. It’s one of those ingredients that proves vegetables really don’t have to be boring.

If ever there was a super versatile ingredient, it must be cauliflower. I use cauliflower rice in a lot of different recipes. From easy poke bowls to a version of fried rice. And yes, I even have a sweet recipe for a rice pudding featuring cauliflower rice. Now granted, that is definitely not for everyone! I have people that love it and people that hate it, but if you’re up for an adventure, you can try for yourself!

Most grocery stores have ready made cauliflower rice these days. Either fresh or frozen. I don’t like the frozen variety as it gets mushy quickly. Also keep in mind that making it yourself is so much cheaper! A whole head of cauliflower is cheaper and you get more for your money.

FAQ Cauliflower Rice Recipes

Cauliflower rice is finely chopped or grated cauliflower that resembles rice in size and texture. It’s used as a low-carb, veggie rich alternative to regular rice.

You can make cauliflower rice by pulsing cauliflower florets in a food processor until they look like grains of rice, or by grating the cauliflower on a box grater. Ready-made cauliflower rice is also widely available in stores.

Not exactly. Cauliflower rice has a mild cauliflower flavor, but when seasoned well and combined with sauces, herbs, or spices, it takes on the flavors of the dish very easily.

Yes. Cauliflower rice is low in carbohydrates and calories and high in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. It’s a great way to add extra vegetables to your meals.

Absolutely. I vary this depending on the dish. For cold dishes like poke bowls I tend to eat it raw, but for warm dishes like fried rice, I briefly sauté it.

Don’t overcook it. Sauté or stir-fry cauliflower rice briefly over high heat and avoid adding too much liquid. If needed, you can squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel.
