250mlbeer with fruitfor instance Kriek or Lachouffe, I have used Wieckse Rose beer 25 cl
250mlwater
150grsugar
1tbspof lemon juiceif it becomes too sweet
For the syrup:
250mlbeersame you used for the granita
250grsugar
One tub of good vanilla icecream of make it yourself
Instructions
The granita:
Put the sugar and the water into a small saucepan and bring to the boil. As soon as it boils turn the heat down and leave to simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and stir the beer through it.
The mixture is fairly sweet; especially when you serve it with the syrup. The lady of the house probably won't mind but when you want to compensate a little add a bit of lemon juice with the sugarwater.
Get a flat dish and pour the contents of the pan into it and put it in the freezer. Take it out every half hour and scratch through it with a fork so it becomes some kind of slush puppy but slightly dryer.
The syrup
Cook the beer with the sugar in a small saucepan and leave to simmer until reduces by about 1/4 (at least 10 minutes)
Pour the syrup into a bottle or something else you can use to pour it later and put in the fridge to cool down
Making the dude dessert than is just a matter of scooping a few nice bowls of vanilla icecream. Yes you can make it yourself but let's face it; making your own icecream is NOT dude like. From a dude perspective granita is not ice. Granita is frozen water with beer and technically that means it is booze, therefore dude-like.
Add a few scoops of the granita to the vanilla icecream and pour some of the syrup over it. Rest assured that the Missus will give you full reign of the kitchen again after tasting this dude dessert!
