Preheat the oven to 180˚C (350˚F) and cover a baking tin with baking paper. Set aside
Mix all ingredients except the pear bits until it is a smooth batter. Spoon the pear through it and place the batter in the tin.
Slice two middle sections out of a pear, remove the pits if there are any and press them into the batter. Place the cake in the oven and bake for 60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
