And the winner is….

Was it a challenging subject for last months photography challenge.. ? πŸ˜‰ Judging by the smaller number of entries it might have been. Still, I’ve seen a couple of really cool entries and then ofcourse the winning image from Cathy who runs the blog She Paused for Thought which I hadn’t seen before, but go on and hop on over for a closer look at her post containing a lot more on location shots!

What was funny for me was that she has actually visited the markets that I went to quite recently in Laos and Cambodia, including the spider village (where they eat deep fried tarantula’s and yes I tried a leg). That had nothing to do with the final result as I am not part of the jury unless the final result has two with the same number of points. In case you’re interested; what I normally do after each challenge is that I send it through to my lovely panel of judges who each give me their three favorites, ranking from 1 to 3. Number one gets 3 points, number 2 gets 2 points and so on and that is repeated for every judge, leaving me with a total number of points for the 3 favorites. And only if number one and two share the number of points I will make the final call. In this case all three judges had this image in their top 3, just the ranking varied, but still convincing enough to win the eternal honor of being number one… πŸ˜‰

Congratulations Cathy and as always thanks to my lovely panel of judges; Meeta, Kay and Jenn! Below you can also find the other awesome entries!

  1. That was a beautiful photo indeed. Congratulations Cathy

  2. Congrats Cathy!

Yes Simone, it was difficult indeed. Especially in restaurants where the lighting is just plain crappy. I did try though but none of my photos was up to par. I had some great shots of Thailand and Bali too but they aren’t current so I couldn’t submit them. That’s the advantage of tropical temperatures: great food markets and outside cooking with natural light. I think we should just all move to a sunny destination πŸ™‚

  3. Congratulations to Cathy! I love her picture.

  4. Thank you! I am so honored, as they all are beautiful photos. I also enjoyed looking at the contestants blogs – great job everybody.
