Ron’s Gastrobar – Amsterdam

As promised I would tell you a little bit more about our lunch at Ron’s Gastrobar for my birthday last Sunday. It wasn’t the first time we had been to the new venture of Ron Blaauw and if we come back it must be good right? The first time was during the summer and we sat outside. Sunday it was rainy and dark and obviously we sat inside. And it was packed!!

First dish was scallops tartare with parmesan cream

The concept is quite simple. All dishes are 15 euro a piece and are small dishes, so any meal could be two or three plates per person. It was lunch so we picked two, but for dinner you might want to go with three. A few of the dishes are with a suplement like my first dish the coquille. Tom had a starter of Hanger steak with patatas bravas.

My second dish was the wagyu burger and I finished with a lemon tart. Tom skipped dessert… (wrong choise in my opinion but than I am a dessert girl right?) and his second dish was the spareribs which he could stop raving about. I tasted some and yes it was great.

But than again I think most of the dishes are probably good so that makes it hard to pick which one to go for. Ron is also working on a new restaurant in De Pijp, which will be opened – if al goes well – beginning of April with the great name of The Fat Dog and that will be all about hotdogs and champagne. Can’t wait to try it out!
