We were incredibly lucky that our weekend in Ostend was wonderfully sunny. Not to hot, certainly not too cold, a bit of a seabreeze and what can go wrong, I would say? And if you also get to have lunch at one of the top restaurants like Agua del Mar than the party is complete. From the restaurant you have a wonderful view over the boulevard, the beach and the sea and that alone is a good reason to pay a visit to this restaurant. It was a bit of a shame we had to drive back home later that afternoon because the wine tasted particularly well.
As a starter I had an asparagus salad with lovely crispy baked prosciutto. Perfect for the sunny weather we had. Not to heavy and nice and crunchy. Tom had shrimp croquets and although also delicious, he did feel that the portion was quite big for a starter. But well, if that is the biggest problem it is not so bad I think! As a main course I had Dutch shrimps (which – in Belgium – are called Belgium shrimps ofcourse..) and Tom had a lovely piece of fish.
And because I had all those lovely and light dishes I thought I kind of earned a dessert; applepie with marzipan and vanilla icecream… Divine!
All in all it was a very good lunch and I could have stayed for a few more hours. But sadly we had to finish our weekend and drive back home. No matter what, if you’re in Ostend and looking for a good place to have lunch and/or dinner than Agua del Mar is highly recommended.
